PCA-NJ Launches Its Official Blog!
We are proud to announce that Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey has launched its official blog!
In our first post, Executive Director Rush Russell
provides an introduction to the organization, along with a letter we
recently sent to our new Governor, Chris Christie, that makes the case
for prevention programs and shows why they are smart investments. As
the state's leaders wrestle with solutions to the budget deficit, we
think it is critical for them to understand how investments in
prevention can save taxpayers money… while saving the lives of children.
Prevent Child Abuse Appearance on CBS News
The
decrease took place during a period when states and the federal
government were making massive investments in evidence-based prevention
strategies, such as home visitation, parent support and education and
information on early childhood development. This finding supports our
belief that investments in evidence based strategies are working and
proving to be less costly to our children, communities and nation.
Podcast Episodes 21 & 22: Our First Spanish Podcast & the "Infants and Children in the Courts" Conference
On episode 21 of our downloadable audio program, we interview (entirely in Spanish!) three Family Workers from the Family Outreach Program
in New Jersey. We spoke about the free preschool program available in
NJ and the role of the Family Worker. They offered suggestions of how
to support the learning of the preschool children and spoke on the
importance of involving parents in the education of their children.
On episode 22, we spoke with Judith Wides (UMDNJ and President NJ Association for Infant Mental Health) about the upcoming conference entitled Infants and Children in the Courts, taking place on March 19th, co-sponsored by Prevent
Child Abuse-New Jersey, Gateway Northwest Maternal and Child Health
Network, and the Central New Jersey Maternal Child Health Consortium.
Why is it so important for the different areas of the legal system to
come together in support of children and families in New Jersey? The
conference registration brochure is also now available (PDF).
Stay tuned for new shows every two weeks, and subscribe to receive new episodes automatically as soon as they are released.
