Survivor Leader (Per Diem) – Human Trafficking Prevention

Job Summary:

Our agency conducts My Life My Choice (MLMC) programs to prevent the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC)/human trafficking throughout New Jersey for adolescents ages 12-18. An essential component of My Life My Choice programs is the voice and experience of survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. The Survivor Leader will facilitate Exploitation Prevention Groups in a variety of settings, co-facilitate trainings, and, upon request, serve as a guest speaker for presentations. An important piece of the Survivor Leader’s role is sharing her story.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Group Facilitator at exploitation prevention groups with adolescent girls in schools, group homes, etc. which includes:

  • Preparation in advance of sessions
  • Debriefing with co-facilitator prior to and after each session
  • Adhering to the MLMC model with fidelity
  • Collecting and submitting appropriate documentation

2. Co-facilitate trainings, including MLMC Facilitator Training and Survivor to Thriver training.

  • Share experience with professional and public audiences with emphasis on how CSEC can be prevented and how best to work with survivors of CSEC
  • Prepare in advance of training
  • Debrief with trainer prior to and after each event

3. Guest speaker at trainings and community events as requested

  • Debrief with trainer/event coordinator prior to and after each event

4. Consult with PCANJ staff with additional CSEC curriculum development as requested

5. Other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A personal interest in, and commitment to, working with adolescent girls.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Positive attitude and belief in the hope of recovery from commercial sexual exploitation for adolescent girls.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport with youth.
  • Personal history as a survivor of commercial sexual exploitation as an adolescent or young adult. This may include exploitation through prostitution, stripping, or pornography.
  • A significant length of time in recovery from sexual exploitation (out of the commercial sex industry).
  • Possess cultural sensitivity and adaptability to various personalities and backgrounds
  • Some public speaking experience preferred.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • A current driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred.

OTHER CONDITIONS: Travel throughout the state of New Jersey will be necessary. Hours may need to be flexible to allow for evening and weekend work, in training, site visits or related activities.
