Home Visitation Program Specialist

SUMMARY:

Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey provides the training, technical assistance, quality assurance and sharing of best practices to 43 home visiting programs throughout the state. All of the home visiting programs adhere to the Healthy Families America and Parents as Teachers National evidence based model requirements. Home visiting programs provide structured visits by trained professionals to parents who are pregnant or have young children. These programs support families by providing developmental/health screenings, referrals, parenting advice, and guidance with navigating other programs and services in their community.  Please Note: This is not a direct service role.

 

  • Develop expertise in the requirements of each national model
  • Provide technical assistance and site development for programs
  • Conduct site visits to the home visiting programs
  • Develop and provide trainings and education to provide to individuals, programs, and organizations
  • Provide on-site quality assurance through shadowing of supervision and home visits; conduct coaching
  • Monitor program activities and service levels
  • Submit outcomes reports as needed
  • Data analysis to help drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate program site involvement with its supporting community organizations
  • Support sites in stabilizing or expanding their program service to families in collaboration with program developers and funders
  • Oversee web-based data collections tools and systems; create new forms and reports for data systems as needed
  • Attend various meetings with various stakeholders (funders, committees, community advisory boards, etc.)
  • Assess needs, identifies gaps, and takes initiative to strengthen program implementation
  • Perform other related duties as required

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A./B.S. required, M.A. preferred
  • A minimum of 1-3 years work experience is required for those at the Bachelor’s level; internship experience may be substituted for work experience for those with a Master’s degree
  • Experience with children, families or at-risk parenting populations, is desired
  • Experience in training groups of all sizes
  • Strong skills in public speaking, training, and group dynamics
  • Ability to build relationships with persons at all levels of human service
  • Awareness of cultural diversity and its impact on planning and provision of services
  • Knowledge of community organization and collaboration building
  • Strong ability to problem-solve
  • Strong computer literacy skills. Experience with web based data collection/MIS preferred
  • Well organized, motivated and flexible
  • Candidate must possess a strong desire to learn and a commitment to professional development in all of the above areasMust have valid driver’s license and car. Travel throughout the state of New Jersey will be necessary.  Hours may need to be flexible to allow for evening and weekend work, in training, site visits or related activities. Travel outside of New Jersey for initial trainings is required.
