WEBINAR:  Healing Hearts in Home Visiting Programs: Using a Trauma Informed Lens (Part 1)

Date: Monday, November 19, 2018

Time: 1:00-3:00 PM Eastern Time

Cost: $25 per person

Description:

Ever wonder why a family in your program appears resistant? This interactive, live webinar draws attention to the underlying trauma that many parents faced as children which may impact their actions now as adults. Taught by Jessica Nugent and Gina Hernandez we will discuss the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), toxic stress and trauma on brain development. Sharing this information with professionals can help us work better together with parents who may appear to be “non-compliant” or “resistant” during home visits. This webinar also highlights the importance of our work in preventing trauma and building resilience in children. Sometimes, a child’s behavior is the symptom of trauma they have experienced and understanding that perspective can help parents develop a different approach.

Pre-registration is required.  This is a 2-step process.  First you will pay the fee and will then be redirected to the registration page.  Please complete the full process in order to register for this webinar.

WEBINAR:  Healing Hearts Advanced Strategies: Using a Trauma Informed Lens (Part 2)

Date: Tuesday, December 11, 2018

Time: 1:00-2:30 PM Eastern Time

Cost: $25 per person

Description:

This webinar builds off of the Part 1 webinar.  However, participants may attend as long as they understand basic information related to ACES and trauma’s impact on the brain, body and behavior.  This webinar provides attendees with practical, useful strategies for working with children and families.  Using best practices, science and a social-emotional framework, we look at how we can best help children (and their parents) build resilience. We also explore our own professional framework to help us uncover and explore ways we can take our work with children and families to the next level.

Participants will learn simple, yet effective, strategies to working with children and families that may have experienced trauma. While this webinar is geared towards home visiting, it is applicable to child care staff and others who work in the field with young children. Sometimes we attend a training and leave with the thought “now what?” but not this time! This webinar will provide you tools to use the moment you complete the home visit!

Pre-registration is required.  This is a 2-step process.  First you will pay the fee and will then be redirected to the registration page.  Please complete the full process in order to register for this webinar.
