WEBINAR:  Healing Hearts in Home Visiting Programs: Using a Trauma Informed Lens

Date: November 19, 2018 (recorded)

Time: 2 hours

Cost: $25 per person

Description:

Ever wonder why a family in your program appears resistant? This interactive, live webinar draws attention to the underlying trauma that many parents faced as children which may impact their actions now as adults. Taught by Jessica Nugent and Gina Hernandez we will discuss the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), toxic stress and trauma on brain development. Sharing this information with professionals can help us work better together with parents who may appear to be “non-compliant” or “resistant” during home visits. This webinar also highlights the importance of our work in preventing trauma and building resilience in children. Sometimes, a child’s behavior is the symptom of trauma they have experienced and understanding that perspective can help parents develop a different approach.
